marching quickly into springtime

Though three days of snow this week are completely uncalled for, I can’t complain at all about the longer days and late sun that’s still warming my stoop when I get home from work. After the crush of winter, even the tiniest hint of springtime has my heart soaring, and I’m so excited for the onset of warmer weather! It seems many photographers contributing to our Flickr pool agree.

66 Square Feet’s Marie Viljoen has been sharing great photos of early bloomers over on her blog, and if I could pinch the cheeks of her cute little seedlings, I totally would. Check out these gorgeous shots of daffodils, witch hazel, and crocus :

I also spotted these great photos from Nelson Ryland of tiny crocuses and daffodils peeking their brave blooms into the chilly air of Flatbush:

And Jackie Weisberg recently took her camera to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to scope out what’s starting to bloom there. She also ran across crocuses nestled in rocky outcroppings, and a magnolia whose unfolding blossoms are definitely heralding the signs of spring indeed:
