flickr faves: evoking miss maier

Even though I was late to the game, I recently read about the discovery of Vivian Maier’s street work in Chicago. If you haven’t yet heard her story, please do take a few minutes to read the Times piece and watch the Kickstarter promo for the documentary that John Maloof and Anthony Rydzon are creating about her life. Then go browse the blog as Maloof uncovers and archives her spellbinding images.

As I return to her work over and over, I’m constantly reminded of the magic of street photography, and my passion to capture NYC street life is renewed. Today’s favorite shots are an homage to the way good street photography makes me feel – and I hope Vivian’s story and these beautiful images below will share even a tiny sense of that renewed inspiration with you as well.
