One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2010 is to become a bolder photographer, especially when it comes to street portraiture. It’s not always easy to capture the unwitting (and sometimes unwilling!) on film, but fortunately there are zoom lenses until I get up enough nerve. Thanks to my fellow Love of Brooklynite Kruger for [...]
One of the best things that’s happened to us here at For the Love of Brooklyn is meeting loads of the wonderful photographers that contribute to our Flickr group. The unique perspectives they bring to the borough continually impress and inspire me. Now that we’ve seen hundreds of photos from 50+ local photographers, it’s about [...]
Even though the days have been cold, colder, and downright frigid, there are signs of life everywhere indicating the impending spring! After a long holiday break and many travels both domestic and abroad, all of us at for the LOVE of BROOKLYN are now back in our fair borough. Happy New Year and best wishes to you and yours! Stay tuned for more coverage, more photos, and follow us on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates!

There will be a celebration at 7pm for the occasion and it will feature fireworks, a marching band, and a reenactment of the original walk across the bridge. This bridge was actually the last to be built of the three bridges that connect Manhattan and Brooklyn. [...]
The Manhattan Bridge turns 100 this weekend, complete with fireworks by the Gruccis. Festivities will commence at 7:00pm this Sunday (10/4). Apparently the Manhattan School of Music Brass Quintet will perform at the East River Park Amphitheatre, but I say and skip the music stay in BK. I work in DUMBO and took this photo on my lunch break. [...]
As the Friday light faded this weekend, I started getting excited for the DUMBO Art Under the Bridge festival, in its 13th year in Brooklyn. I work in the neighborhood and the tension in the air always gets noticeably more excited in the ‘hood when it’s time for the annual festival. One of our photographers [...]
