Though this year’s 36th annual Atlantic Antic passed by a week and a half ago, beautiful photographs from the giant event have been cropping up in our Flickr group ever since. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share them with you, so check out the great shots below!

Also, be sure to head over to 66 Square Feet, where Marie Viljoen posted a lovely feature about the fest, and make sure to check out some awesome photos from festivals past on the Brooklyn Historical Society’s blog!

open house new york next weekend!

September 30th, 2010 | Posted by Jill in events - (2 Comments)

Earlier this week, Open House New York released the full line-up of venues and events participating in their annual lovefest to NYC, which is “America’s largest architect and design event.” This year, the 8th annual OHNY weekend will take place next Saturday and Sunday, October 9th and 10th.

Last year, we participated in the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel Tour and it was a blast! Though a lot of their tours are already fully booked, I’m having a hard time choosing between their Lefferts or Lott house tours — or maybe the Wyckoff House! So many great spots in Brooklyn to choose from – and lots you can easily drop in on without signing up for a tour.

For more info, check out the full weekend event guide here and follow their Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates about this great NYC event. Which places are you planning to visit for OHNY?!

Last night, several of us from the blog joined hundreds of Brooklynites in celebrating the “Capture Brooklyn” gallery opening at the powerHouse Arena in DUMBO, shown below. The opening was a smashing success, and it was really great to see so much wonderful work showcasing our fair borough’s neighborhoods from so many talented local artists!

This gallery opening helped to kick off the Dumbo Arts Festival which is now in full swing.

Planning to check it out out this weekend? Download this map, print off this official TimeOut New York guide, and scope out this calendar of events before you head out! Hope to see you there!

The annual DUMBO Arts Festival opens this Friday, but you can get a sneak peek of one of the galleries on Thursday night. “Capture Brooklyn,” an exhibition hosted at The powerHouse Arena will open this Thursday night, September 23rd @ 7pm. [map]

As we posted last month, the exhibit organizers called for submissions showcasing Brooklyn talent, and we’re excited for the several FTLOBers whose photographs were selected, including our blogger Matt Nedbalsky whose photo is posted at right!

Check out this post to see a full list of all the winners! So come out and celebrate, say hello, and be sure to visit the festival this weekend for more!
