Why hello there! I am Peter Kruger, one of the photographers you’ll find on this fine site. You’ll be seeing a lot more of my Brooklyn photography going forward, and I apologize in advance for the sub-par descriptions I’ll inevitably write and the probable historical and physical inaccuracies that will transpire. So feel free to school me in Brooklyn knowledge in the comments. ;)

So here we are on E New York Ave on a Saturday night in East New York, Brooklyn.  It was on this night that I first went photographing with Pete from Brooklyn (another member for FTLOB, and someone who knows more about Brooklyn than Brooklyn itself).  We were looking to photograph some things not often photographed that were “behind some fences” (euphemism).  Anyway, when I asked about the safety of the area, Pete told me that it was perfectly safe and nothing to worry about.  This is around 10pm.  Fast forward 5 hours and we’re both a little drunk off of some good beers (Hoptimus Prime!) and he lets me know the secret that we’re actually in the 75th Precinct, otherwise known as NYC’s *most* dangerous area.  Upon learning this, it immediately made sense why I was hearing gunshots, seeing massive bloodstains on the sidewalk, and was seeing massive undercover officers busting warehouse party operations.  But it was a blast all around and we got some good photos.  Pete taught me an incredible amount of Brooklyn history and I got some good photos.  This was the first photo I took that night, more so just to make sure everything was set with the new camera body for a night of photography, but it came out and looked just like this on camera screen.  So upon seeing it, I knew that good things were ahead.  I wanted to post this photo first to this blog to let you know that very good things are on the way here too.  It’s a pleasure to share photos with all of you, for the love of Brooklyn.
