brooklyn scenes from hurricane irene

More than once this weekend I thought about blogging while we were holed up and preparing for Hurricane Irene to come tearing through Brooklyn. Instead, it proved to be an opportune time to catch up on sleep, paint my dining room, and lazily watch some over-the-top news coverage of the storm. (“IT’S THE SIZE OF EUROPE!”) While the damage in New York City definitely doesn’t hold a candle to what’s going on in parts of New Jersey and Vermont, I wanted to share some of these Brooklyn scenes of the storm and its aftermath.
Did you venture out into the storm? Have shots you’d like to share? Send ‘em our way – we’d love to see them.

Really great! Especially love the orange sand bags.
Jill, great selection of images and thanks for picking a couple of mine. I also particularly like Josh’s one with the orange sandbags. So simple, direct, and visually pleasing despite it being about a storm.
I too and gutted for NJ and especially VT. Alli’s family have a timeshare base with the Crafts Inn in Wilmington VT and we’ve seen photos of flood water up to 4-6′ there. It looks like the Inn and our favourite breakfast place, Dots, are destroyed, even if they are still standing – barely. So, so, sad, especially in these economic times. I hope they can get their repairs done in time for the ski season at least and get some NE business back.
These are all awesome…makes me kind of sad that nothing really happened in my nabe =/
